Destruction in Lakeview

We arrived in Mandeville, LA and unloaded our stuff at the home of another great friend Cheryl Sides. We immediately headed towards New Orleans to view some of the damage. We went to the homes of twofriends in the Lakeview area just west of New Orleans. This area was between the two levees that broke. Our friends' houses were under 10 feet of water for almost three weeks! The destruction in the area was overwhelming. It's one thing to see this on tv, it's quite another to see it in person and to know the families involved. The whole area, and all the houses and cars are covered in a brownish grayfilm. It almost looks like one were living in a black and white picture. The insides of the homes looked like places that had been abandoned 20 or 30 years ago and had been left to time and the elements. It was incomprehensible to try to imagine that our friends had lived here a mere 6 weeks ago. Children had played in these homes. In one of the homes we saw a stack of muddied CDs and I found one that my own band had produced.
